There can be no question that we live in a very “anti-God/Christian/Christ” world, and those of us with children face a monumental task: raising Godly kids in an ungodly world. How do we keep our kids from the evil influence of our society without being over-protective and sheltering them to the point that they are practically helpless when they eventually do have to venture out into the world?
That is the issue that is tough to balance. I have a 7 and 1 year old and I am constantly looking for the right balance with my oldest. Attitudes and habits all have to be in check with godliness. Keeping the focus upward is critical with kids teaching them that they are living for eternity and not for the “now.”
If my children grow up and fall away from Christ, then I will have failed miserably as their Father. If only more Fathers would see their responsibility like this.

Fleshing out the “Christ-walk”
As Christians, we know that we are to strive to show Christ in our daily lives. Yet, how many of us go about our lives, neglecting to “walk the talk?” I do. I don’t do it intentionally, but I do it. The way I sometimes treat people, the way I shape my priorities — all of it.
How many times have a I had an opportunity to walk the “Christ-walk” but didn’t? Almost daily. I can’t personally be Jesus, but I can make it a priority to reflect His nature, at which sometimes I fail miserably. Even then, I find myself focusing on the “other Christians” than myself and improving my own walk. That is the ultimate trap that Jesus warned us about in Matthew 7:5 when He told us to first remove the plank from our own eye before worrying about the speck in our brother’s eye.
What a lesson to be learned.
